Alabama Academy of Science Bestows Recognition on
JSU Professor and Students


The following JSU students were recently recognized by the Alabama Academy of Science at its 85th annual meeting held at Samford University, Birmingham, AL, March 20, 2008, for their winning entries in this year's Chemistry Undergraduate Research Competition. Students along with their winning entries are cited below with JSU Biology Professor Dr. George Cline presenting them with their awards.


Stephen A. Fordham attained a 2nd Place finish in the paper competition with his entry "Ionic Liquids for Energy Storage."





Jacob W. Boydston attained a 3rd Place finish in the paper competition with his entry "Heavy Metal Mobilization from Compost Manure."





Haley C. Booker attained a 2nd Place finish in the poster competition with her entry "Synthesis of Butamben: The Fischer Esterification Reaction Revisited."





Bryan Delauney attained a 3rd Place finish in the poster competition with his entry "Heavy Metal Contamination in Soils around Anniston, Alabama."





JSU Professor Dr. Harry O. Holstein (pictured here with George Cline) was awarded with the distinguished rank of Fellow of the Alabama Academy of Science. This title was bestowed on Dr. Holstein in recognition for his years of service to the Alabama Academy of Science and for his contributions to science in the state of Alabama.
